Crispy Ho Pan-Fried Tofu
4 servings
Ingredients:
- 14 oz firm or extra-firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Kosher salt, to taste
- 1½ tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons coconut aminos
- 2 tablespoons Crispy Ho
-
Chopped scallions or chives, for garnish
Instructions:
- Drain the tofu and pat it very dry. Cut into 1½ to 2-inch cubes.
- Add the olive oil to a nonstick skillet and arrange the tofu in a single layer. Season with a few pinches of kosher salt.
- Cook over medium-high heat, undisturbed, for 5 to 6 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown and crisp.
- Briefly remove the pan from the heat to reduce splattering. Carefully flip the tofu using tongs or chopsticks.
- Return the pan to medium-high heat and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes, until the tofu is golden and crispy on the other side.
- Lower the heat. Add the tamari, coconut aminos, and Crispy Ho. Gently toss until the tofu is evenly coated in the glossy chili crunch sauce.
- Cook over low heat for another 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize slightly and cling to the crispy tofu.
- Transfer to a serving plate and spoon any remaining Crispy Ho sauce from the pan over the top.
- Finish with chopped scallions or chives, if desired, and serve immediately.
